Weekend Life

Hello August!!

Ahh... I hate that Labor Day is only a month away, yet I'm just getting a chance to finally use my back deck. The daily rainstorms in June really killed the beginning of the summer, but the past few weekends have been warm and sunny and just glorious.

On Friday DFH enjoyed happy hour and dinner together and ended the night enjoying the almost blue moon and the warm weather outside.  We have been so busy lately that it was nice to enjoy some time just the two of us.

On Saturday we ran errands, our new dishwasher was delivered ( the rest of the appliances are back ordered..grr.) and did some yard work before our friends LES and Aaron came over.  The boys went golfing while LES and I ran to get some ingredients for grilled pizza.  We all met at a local brewery and hung out before we came back to our house for a night of board games and pizza.  Aaron was a pro at rolling out the dough and then we covered the pizza with prosciutto and arugula and a couple fried eggs.  I have tried many different crusts when grilling pizza and have found that the Trader Joe's white crust works best and stays together on the grill.

Playing Taboo was great, it was one of my favorite games growing up, and is still a blast to play.  Our friends BS and ALV joined us late night and we had the best time.

On Sunday DFH and I came across a winery on a back road while doing errands that we had never seen before. We decided to run in to taste a couple of wines and grab some bottles.  I love supporting small businesses and it is even better when they serve wine. haha.

It was the cutest little winery and instead of tasting a couple of wines when deciding which bottle to purchase they had an extensive tasting set up.  They gave us 11 different red and white wines to taste along with a little tasting tray of grapes, cheese and crackers.  The owners were so sweet and explained the proper way to taste wine and described each type of wine to us.   We LOVED so many of the wines.  The owner told us they were just voted best winery in the Pittsburgh area.  I am usually so up on the local breweries and wineries, I cannot believe this is the first time I had heard of it.

If you are local to Pittsburgh you NEED to stop by the Michael Steven Kavic Winery in Carnegie.  Check out their website HERE   The Traminette wine was our favorite.

Have a great week.

  1. Taboo is one of my favorite board games too, such a classic. Also, I can totally relate to the August panic attacks, I never want summer to end.
