Our Awesome Salt Lamp

  For Christmas this year DFH's Sister and Brother in Law gave us a Salt Lamp.  I had never seen one of these before, but they are so cool and look pretty all lit up.  DFH's sister works in massage therapy and she informed us that not only do these lamps look pretty, but the salt helps purify the air!!! How cool is that !?!?!

   Basically a light bulbs sits under all of the salt rocks and it illuminates. 

   I did a little a research and most salt lamps are made with Himalayan salt which is super old, most says hundreds of millions of years old ??   Anyways, the heat from the light bulb causes the salt to emit negative ions and the negative ions bond with air pollutants which cleans the air.
     It is said that as a result these lights clean the air and improve symptoms of asthma, allergies, and other sicknesses.    -Find more info here

    We turn the lamp on pretty much every night and so far DFH and I haven't been sick ( Knock on wood)   so hopefully our air is cleaner. 

Has anyone else heard of these?  Have they helped your allergies /sicknesses at all?
